POLL WINNER...
JANUARY 18TH, 2007

THE PLOT:

It is the year 2035 and robots are a way of life. They take care of us. But Del Spooner is a cop, a cop with a distrust of robots. The hot new craze is the M-5, the newest in robot tech.

But when Dr. Alfred Lanning is murdered by being pushed out of thick shatter proof glass Del's only suspect is the prototype M-5 nickednamed Sonny by Dr. Lanning. But nobody believes Del considering all robots have the three laws of robotics. But as Del delves deeper into the mytery the bigger the conspiracy gets and the more dangerous it becomes.

ZEDD'S OPINION:

Where to begin? How about those effects, were they assume or what? I can't tell you how real the robots look in this movie and not robot suits, no way anyone could be in those robots. Plus, I think Will Smith does a great job at Del, the one man who doesn't have complete faith in the system makes the best cops. Asimov's story translates well to the big screen and if you ask me, I think this is a great adaptation of the book. The acting is superb and if you ask me, this was the best picture of 2004 not whatever drama won. As per the norm, the sci-fi is ignored by the academy, I mean this had dramatic scenes between Del and Sonny. It had Oscar winning Oscar, but for a few minor exceptions the sci-fi and horror genre is ignored by the "academy". They rather pick boring dramas that you can care less about. I think it's time to clean up the rating board and the fossils in the academy. But as the story goes I think it was cool an worth watching. 9 STARS.

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I agree with Zedd one zillion percent about the whole Oscar thing. I haven't liked the choices for the Oscars since the seventies. But as for I, Robot. To be honest with you I was afraid they were going to chance the work of Asimov and turn it into some anti-tech message. But I can say without spoiling anything, that I was wrong. This is a fast paced and exciting ride with lots of twist and turns and cool stunts and effects. A must have if you a fan of Will Smith. 9 STARS.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ COOL EFFECTS (There is some cool effects.)
+ STORY (A fateful adaptation to the original story.)
+ ACTING (Oscar calibur performances.)
+ ROBOTS (They look like they are really there.)
+ ATMOSPHERE (The world of tomorrow. The not too distant future.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- MINOR CHARACTER ISSUES (There were some minor character issues, but easily overlooked.)

...AND FINALLY...

- FAN BASED (If you don't like WILL SMITH, then this isn't the movie for you.)
